Gloria Steinem, a feminist icon and a driving force in the women's rights movement for more than 60 years, died on Wednesday at the age of 92, according to her foundation.

Steinem first gained widespread attention in the 1960s for her undercover expose of the harsh working conditions at a New York City Playboy Club, where she worked as a Playboy Bunny. Her work as a writer and activist brought her to the forefront of a national conversation about gender discrimination during a time when overt sexism was commonplace.

Throughout her career, Steinem faced criticism and harassment but remained a steadfast advocate for women's equality. Her activism contributed to significant legal victories, including the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade, which established a woman's right to an abortion. This landmark ruling was later overturned in 2022.

Steinem never retired from her lifelong commitment to the fight for women's rights.
