Gloria Hunniford Becomes Great-Grandmother at 86

Gloria Hunniford, 86, has announced she is a great-grandmother for the first time. The television presenter shared the happy news on the show Loose Women on Tuesday, accompanied by photos of her meeting her new great-grandson, Freddie.

"I couldn't be happier and I could weep even now. There were tears of joy," Hunniford told the panel. Her joy was tinged with remembrance for her late daughter, Caron Keating, who tragically died of breast cancer in 2004 at the age of 41. Keating would have been Freddie's grandmother.

Freddie was born on Sunday morning to Hunniford's grandson Charlie, Keating's first son, and his wife Nicole. Hunniford expressed the significance of the event, stating, "This is such a joy, the growth of the family and new life."

Caron Keating was a presenter on the children's show Blue Peter in the 1980s. Following her death, Gloria Hunniford established The Caron Keating Foundation. Hunniford has previously spoken about her daughter's positive outlook following her cancer diagnosis, noting Caron's focus on "life" and positivity.

Hunniford also shared how she navigates significant dates after loss, emphasizing the importance of marking occasions like Mother's Day and birthdays for Caron's sons, Charlie and Gabriel, while keeping the anniversary of her passing relatively light.

Gloria Hunniford has two other sons, Paul and Michael, from her marriage to Don Keating, whom she was married to for 22 years before their split in 1992. He died five years later.
