Gleb Savchenko Criticizes Fellow 'DWTS' Pro Alan Bersten's Dancing Skills
Savchenko claims Bersten is 'just not up to the level of dancing' during a TikTok livestream.
Former “Dancing With the Stars” pro Gleb Savchenko has publicly criticized the dancing abilities of fellow pro Alan Bersten, stating that Bersten is “just not up to the level of dancing.” Savchenko made these remarks during a TikTok livestream.
The comments came after it was announced that Bersten would be replacing Val Chmerkovskiy on the show’s upcoming “Dedication Night” episode. Chmerkovskiy is serving a one-week suspension.
“Alan, I think he’s Alan. I mean, he’s just not up to the level of dancing, like, period — quality, the technique,” Savchenko, 43, said about Bersten, 32. He added, “He’s a good dancer, I guess, for TV, but if we talk about art? Like, creating art? He’s like, eh. I don’t want to like, talk s–t about people, I’m just being honest.”
Savchenko suggested that a dancer from the troupe should have been chosen to partner with Chmerkovskiy’s celebrity contestant, actress Jenna Dewan. “I don’t have anything against the guy, just, like, why Alan?” he questioned.
Representatives for both Savchenko and Bersten have been contacted for comment. Savchenko was not part of the current “Dancing With the Stars” season, marking his first absence since 2016. He previously stated he was content with the decision, posting on Instagram, “Nothing but love and gratitude for all the years in that ballroom. Excited for this next chapter — and wishing everyone an amazing season. 🪩.”
Bersten, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2019 with Hannah Brown, was eliminated from the current season in week two with his partner, Giada De Laurentiis. Savchenko has never won the competition, with his highest placement being fourth on three occasions.
