Emily Eavis, a key organizer of the Glastonbury Festival, has refuted rumors suggesting Madonna will headline the event in 2027. Eavis confirmed that the headliners for the 2027 festival have been secured, but "definitely not" the Queen of Pop.

The Glastonbury Festival is scheduled to return in June 2027, following a planned fallow year this summer. Tickets for the event are anticipated to go on sale in November. Last year's festival featured headliners such as The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, with Sir Rod Stewart performing in the legends slot.

In a recent discussion on the BBC's PM program, Eavis also spoke about her hopes for increased arts funding. She expressed a desire for the new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, to support music education in schools and to address the condition of smaller music venues, which she described as "crumbling." These smaller venues are often where future Glastonbury headliners begin their careers.

"I'm really hoping that Andy Burnham gets right behind the arts," Eavis stated. "Obviously, we're a nation of makers and creators and vision makers and world changers, and it's what we do so so well."

She further emphasized the cultural and economic importance of the arts, adding, "And I really am hoping that he will recognise the arts and music as being a huge asset to Britain. It's what we do best, it is what we are."

A spokesperson for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport acknowledged the financial challenges within the culture sector. "The department is under no illusions about the financial issues facing the culture sector and is committed to supporting them during this difficult time," the spokesperson told the BBC.
