Girl Hospitalized After Brother Throws Knife Over Pizza Dispute

A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized in Florida after her younger brother threw a knife at her during a dispute over pizza. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday in Lauderhill, Broward County.

The children's mother reported the incident to the Lauderhill Police Department. According to authorities, the girl stated that she was cutting a pizza when her 8-year-old brother became upset. He was reportedly angry that he had not yet received his slice and grabbed a knife, throwing it at his sister and striking her in the chest.

Police responded to the apartment complex on the 2900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue. The children's mother told officers that she had stepped outside to get the mail and when she returned, her daughter was running out of the apartment bleeding from her chest wound.

Fire rescue officials arrived at the scene and found the girl conscious and breathing. She was transported to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment of a small cut to her chest. Police confirmed they are investigating the incident and have been in contact with all parties involved.
