Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich reflected on what distinguishes Donald Trump from other political figures, characterizing his authenticity as both a strength and a weakness in a recent podcast interview. Speaking on Sean Hannity's "Hang Out With Sean Hannity" podcast, taped at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Gingrich described Trump as "totally authentic" and "not editable."

"He has no boundaries," Gingrich stated, adding, "It's good, and it's bad... He's totally authentic. Now the problem with that is he's not editable because he's totally authentic."

Gingrich, a long-time ally of Trump, also noted the former president's wide-ranging interests and his ability to shift focus rapidly between issues. He pointed to Trump's recent actions concerning space policy, including signing a new national space transportation policy and issuing an executive order to establish a NASA-led U.S. Space Academy. Gingrich observed that Trump "puttered along for a while, and he suddenly, bam, [he] did a bunch of very decisive, very important things, and now he's off doing something else."

The discussion between Gingrich and Hannity took place as Republicans convened for the party's first midterm convention. During the event, both Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance addressed party members as the GOP aimed to maintain its congressional majorities.

Gingrich has been a vocal supporter of Trump since his first term, frequently offering positive assessments of his governing style and policies. He extensively covered Trump's political ascent during the 2016 campaign and has authored works examining his presidency. The full conversation with Gingrich is available on various podcast platforms.
