Gina Rodriguez, who starred alongside Justin Baldoni in the CW series "Jane the Virgin," has publicly supported her former co-star and his wife amid their legal dispute with actress Blake Lively. Rodriguez commented on an Instagram video posted by Justin and Emily Baldoni, where the couple broke their silence regarding the settlement of their lawsuit.
"Love you friends. Por vida," Rodriguez, 41, wrote in the comments, with "Por vida" translating to "for life" in Spanish. Brett Dier, another "Jane the Virgin" alum, also expressed his support by commenting, "I love you guys."
Rodriguez and Baldoni, 42, portrayed a romantic couple on "Jane the Virgin," which aired from 2014 to 2019. Prior to the legal proceedings, Rodriguez referred to Baldoni as her "brother forever" in a previous interview with People, adding that he was the cast member she stayed in touch with the most.
The legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively stemmed from their 2024 film "It Ends With Us." The lawsuit was settled out of court on May 4, just two weeks before a trial was scheduled to commence. In their video addressing the situation, Justin and Emily Baldoni stated they felt "immense gratitude" for their supporters, though Emily noted the couple experienced "injustice and pain" due to Lively's accusations, which she characterized as "disguised as a fight for women."
Justin Baldoni explained that they delayed speaking publicly to allow the justice system to proceed and to avoid adding to the public discourse. He described the experience as "traumatic" and confirmed that both parties involved in the settlement did not financially benefit from it. Sources told Page Six Hollywood that the legal teams for both Lively and Baldoni each made $60 million from the suits and countersuits.
Following the settlement, Lively requested Baldoni pay over $8 million in her legal fees from the case. Reports also surfaced that Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were not invited to Taylor Swift's wedding after the singer was reportedly involved in the legal dispute with Baldoni.
