New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo was left bloodied and incensed after a critical facemask penalty was not called in the second quarter of the team's Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.

The play in question occurred on a third-and-2 situation. Skattebo was tackled, and during the process, his facemask was grabbed by Cowboys defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, causing his head to snap back. Despite the apparent infraction, no flag was thrown by the officials.

Skattebo's visible frustration led to him yelling at the referees. The drive ultimately resulted in the Giants' only punt of the first half.

Earlier in the game, Skattebo scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown, which he celebrated with a backflip after crossing the goal line. This celebration came after head coach John Harbaugh had previously spoken with Skattebo about performing backflips due to concerns over his surgically repaired right ankle. Skattebo had landed awkwardly on the ankle during a previous appearance at Fanatics Fest. He stated during training camp that he had learned from past incidents and would likely not perform the flip again, though he did so after his touchdown in this game.
