Giants Show Interest in Jimmy Garoppolo Amid Quarterback Uncertainty

The Giants have "real" interest in Garoppolo, who is currently a free agent.

Dart suffered MCL, PCL, and meniscus damage during the team's recent loss to the Rams, creating an immediate need for depth and stability at the quarterback position. The Giants signed backup Jameis Winston to a two-year, $13 million extension before the regular season, but his performance has raised concerns. Winston struggled during his recent extended playing time, exhibiting issues with accuracy and decision-making, including an interception that was not near a receiver.

The team's third-string quarterback, Jake Haener, is not considered a viable long-term option should Winston be unable to perform. This situation has led the Giants to consider Garoppolo, who is rumored to be near the top of their prospective list of potential acquisitions.

While Garoppolo has not thrown a pass since 2024 and has limited recent game experience, including starting only one game for the Rams in 2024, he is an established veteran capable of managing an offense.
