The New York Giants will be without running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. as he has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. General manager Joe Schoen announced the move Monday, emphasizing that it is not a season-ending ailment. This decision comes as the team heads into its bye week.

In a corresponding move, the Giants signed undrafted free agent Gregory Desrosiers from the Chargers’ practice squad to their active roster. Tracy sustained his injury during the Giants' overtime victory against the Texans on Sunday, where he recorded six rushes for 15 yards and a touchdown. "This isn’t, like some of the other ones that we had were season-ending," Schoen stated. "This won’t be something that’s gonna be long-term fortunately."

Tracy, who faced preseason uncertainty about his roster spot and was part of a running back committee prior to Najee Harris’s release, had scored three touchdowns in the preceding two games. His absence will mean missing the Giants' next four games following the bye.

The Giants' running back situation has been dynamic. Initially a crowded group, the team now has Cam Skattebo, Devin Singletary, and Desrosiers remaining. Skattebo, after being sidelined in Week 6 due to fumbling issues, returned to a starting role against the Texans and achieved a career-high 124 rushing yards and a touchdown. Singletary has had limited carries this season but scored the game-winning touchdown on Sunday and contributed significantly in the season opener against the Cowboys with four catches and a receiving touchdown.

"We still have lots of confidence in [Skattebo] and [Singletary]," Schoen said, "and we’re excited to see what Greg can do."
