The New York Giants released veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton on Monday, days before the team's season opener. Slayton, who was the longest-tenured player on the Giants roster, had initially been named to the 53-man roster following the final round of cuts.
Last season, Slayton appeared in 14 games, recording 538 receiving yards and one touchdown. His departure comes after reports last month suggested his position on the team was uncertain following the final preseason game.
Slayton was set to have a significant salary-cap hit of $15.9 million in 2026.
