New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was cleared of a concussion after taking a hard hit during the team's preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. Dart returned to the game after a brief evaluation and proceeded to throw a touchdown pass to Malachi Fields.

The incident occurred in the first quarter when Dart sustained a hit from Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner. He went into the medical tent for a concussion check, missing two plays. Jameis Winston briefly entered the game in Dart's absence, completing a pass that gained 40 yards.

Upon his return, Dart led the Giants on a 14-play drive that culminated in his touchdown pass to Fields. He finished the drive 3-of-4 passing for 26 yards, connecting with Isaiah Likely twice on third downs.

Head coach John Harbaugh stated his priority was preparing the team for the regular season. "I think we need to get ready for the regular season," Harbaugh said. "That’s what we’re aiming for. In our situation right now, playing a little bit in the preseason and getting a feel for the game, making adjustments in real time in a game at game speed so we can be the most ready that we can possibly be for that first game against the Cowboys, that really is the No. 1 priority."

The game also saw challenges on the offensive line. Third-string center Bryan Hudson started due to injuries to John Michael Schmitz (concussion) and backup Lucas Patrick (knee). Hudson's snap on the first drive disrupted timing on a screen pass, and he was later beaten by Turner on a sack of Dart.

Dart's performance highlighted both his off-script playmaking ability and his history of injury concerns. The quarterback's return and subsequent touchdown offered a moment of relief and excitement for Giants fans following the worrisome hit.
