Giants Injury Report: Carter, Eluemunor, Thomas Questionable for Sunday's Game

The New York Giants received some encouraging injury news Friday, with edge rusher Abdul Carter (calf), right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (calf), and left tackle Andrew Thomas (groin) all participating in individual drills. All three were limited in practice and have been designated as questionable for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Despite a potential worst-case scenario where the Giants could be without their top two pass rushers and top two offensive tackles, the participation of Carter, Eluemunor, and Thomas offers a glimmer of optimism. Carter, who has been a key player in recent weeks, appeared to be moving well, prompting head coach John Harbaugh to initially believe he might be a full participant. Carter's availability is particularly crucial given that fellow edge rusher Brian Burns is already out for the season.

Should Eluemunor or Thomas be unable to play, Marcus Mbow is the designated swing tackle. Rookie J.C. Davis would see his first career action if both offensive tackles are sidelined.

The Giants have officially ruled out cornerback Colton Hood (concussion), tight end Theo Johnson (neck), and safety Tyler Nubin (neck) for Sunday's contest.

In other team news, running back Cam Skattebo's ball security remains a point of emphasis for the coaching staff. Head coach John Harbaugh indicated that there is a limit to fumbles before depth chart changes are considered. "There is a point," Harbaugh stated when asked if Skattebo, who has fumbled four times, had reached it. Backups Najee Harris and Tyrone Tracy Jr. have also each recorded one fumble this season, and inactive veteran Devin Singletary had fumbling issues earlier in his career.

With Theo Johnson sidelined, Chris Manhertz could see an increased role as the No. 2 tight end, though his primary contribution is blocking. Thomas Fidone, who has played in one game, offers more receiving potential behind starter Isaiah Likely. Harbaugh noted that Fidone has had strong practices, run good routes, and performed well on special teams last week, suggesting he is ready to contribute.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers, who has posted back-to-back 100-yard games since returning from a torn ACL last year, believes he is still only at 70-80 percent of his full capability. Harbaugh expressed excitement about Nabers' potential for further improvement, stating, "That gets me fired up. I can’t wait to see the 20, 30 percent more. That’s going to be fun."
