Giants Face Offensive Line Woes as Thomas Injured

The New York Giants are facing growing concerns along their offensive line as starting left tackle Andrew Thomas missed Thursday's practice with a groin injury. Thomas sustained the injury during Monday's loss to the Rams.

If Thomas is unable to play against the Tennessee Titans, Marcus Mbow is expected to step in at left tackle. Mbow, a fifth-round pick in 2025, has experience, having played 324 snaps and made three starts during his rookie season. "I’m just staying ready," Mbow stated. "Just being ready for whatever."

Mbow acknowledged the challenge of preparing as a backup. "It helps significantly getting those reps," he said. "[As a backup], it can be a challenge. You’re just trying to put yourself out there by watching, getting as many mental reps as you can. I’m just trying to make the most of all my opportunities when they come."

In addition to Thomas's injury, linebacker Brian Burns also missed practice for the second consecutive day with an ankle issue. Cornerback Deonte Banks, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and safety Tyler Nubin were limited participants due to calf and toe injuries, respectively.

Despite the potential personnel losses, the team remains focused on the upcoming game. "The crowd’s gotta be lit, just like it was the first week," said Cam Skattebo. "I think the entire city of New York still knows we have a really good shot at this. … We’re not gonna take a step down. We’re gonna continue to push and continue to work. We have our fanbase with us. If they’re giving everything they’ve got for us, I promise you they’re gonna get everything from us."

Separately, defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, in his first season with the Giants, rejoined the team after attending to a personal family matter. Wilson had missed practice the previous Friday due to the death of his father. "My heart was heavy, but I am thankful for this organization, the coaches and especially the players and my family and friends who have been helping me deal with my loss of my dad," Wilson said Thursday. "If you go through an ordeal like that, it is tough, but it’s a part of our job. It’s a part of what we do. And if I’m there, if I’m on the field, I have to give my best."
