Giants Expect Key Offensive Players to Return for Sunday's Game

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, tight end Isaiah Likely, and running back Cam Skattebo are all expected to be available for Sunday's game, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Nabers had missed practice on Wednesday due to increased soreness in his knee but is now cleared to play.

Skattebo, who wore a red noncontact jersey earlier in the week due to muscle tightness in his back, stated that his shoulder is fine and the jersey was a precautionary measure. He described his back issue as minor and reported feeling great after working it out over the past couple of days.

Likely, who had been dealing with knee and groin issues, Nabers, Skattebo, left tackle Andrew Thomas (groin), and tight end Chris Manhertz (shoulder) all participated fully in Friday's practice. This marks the first time this week all five players were able to practice without limitations.

In other injury news, safety Jason Pinnock (concussion) and defensive lineman Chauncey Golston (neck) have been ruled out for Sunday's game. The absence of Pinnock, who has been sharing a safety position with Tyler Nubin, could lead to Ar’Darius Washington stepping in if Nubin is also unavailable.

Harbaugh declined to name the backup quarterback, stating that newly acquired J.J. McCarthy has made significant progress in the last two weeks. "From last week to this week, he’s made a lot of progress," Harbaugh said.

Defensive coordinator Daronte Jones, who previously interviewed for the defensive coordinator position with the Giants, is set to interview for the same role with the Commanders. Harbaugh expressed his respect for Hall of Famer Mike Ditka, who passed away earlier in the day, recalling his interactions with him through his brother Jim.

Defensive lineman Jihad Ward might make his debut for the Giants on Sunday, filling in for the injured Golston. Ward is expected to contribute in various roles, including rushing inside, similar to Golston's responsibilities.
