Giants Cornerback Paulson Adebo Returns to Practice, Boosting Secondary Amid Injury Woes

Cornerback Paulson Adebo has returned to practice for the New York Giants, marking his first participation since being placed on injured reserve. This development opens the possibility for Adebo to return to the field as soon as Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.

Adebo, in the second year of a three-year, $54 million contract, suffered a knee injury in the season's opening game and has been sidelined since. He was placed on IR on September 18, forcing him to miss four games, and has now been out for five consecutive contests.

The Giants' secondary continues to be impacted by injuries, with Jevon Holland also landing on the concussion report Wednesday and not practicing. Greg Newsome II also missed practice due to a concussion.

In addition to Adebo's return, rookie cornerback Colton Hood also practiced on Wednesday after previously missing the team's last game due to a concussion. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds also missed practice with a shoulder injury, potentially affecting the defense as they prepare to face Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The Giants' offensive line is also facing challenges, with tackles Andrew Thomas (groin) and Jermaine Eluemunor (calf) not participating in practice. Thomas sustained his injury late in the game against the Saints, while Marcus Mbow, who replaced Eluemunor, was also held out. Rookie J.C. Davis is expected to start at left tackle if Thomas is unable to play.

In response to the offensive line injuries, the Giants signed Josh Sills, an offensive lineman, from the Colts' practice squad. Sills, 28, has played in only three games since 2023.

Linebacker Abdul Carter practiced after being limited last week with a calf injury and expressed confidence in the defense's ability to pressure Stroud. Tight end Theo Johnson (neck) also returned to practice after missing the previous game. Punter Jordan Stout (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice.
