Giants Coaching Staff Weighing Quarterback Decision for Week 7

New York Giants coach John Harbaugh stated Monday that the team is "honing in on a decision" regarding their starting quarterback for the upcoming Week 7 game against the Houston Texans.

The choice is between Jameis Winston, who has been the primary starter, and J.J. McCarthy, who was acquired by the team three weeks ago. Winston was benched in the fourth quarter of the Giants' recent home loss to the New Orleans Saints after throwing his second interception of the game, which contributed to the Saints extending their lead to 34-10.

Despite the initial setback with an interception on his first drive, McCarthy entered the game and provided a spark to the Giants' offense. He was responsible for several big plays and led a comeback attempt that brought the team within striking distance of tying the game. McCarthy finished the game completing 11 of 21 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He also contributed with two rushing attempts for 26 yards.

Winston assumed the starting role after Jaxon Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2.
