Giants Coach Remains Tight-Lipped on Jaxson Dart's Injury Status
John Harbaugh stated evaluations are ongoing as Jameis Winston prepares to start at quarterback.
New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh declined to provide definitive updates on quarterback Jaxson Dart's knee injury, stating that evaluations are still in progress. The uncertainty comes after multiple reports suggested the injury could be season-ending.
“Right now, evaluations are ongoing. We haven’t got any final decisions yet,” Harbaugh said Tuesday. “We’ve learned a lot more. I wouldn’t want to share too much until decisions get made.”
With Dart sidelined, Jameis Winston is set to take over as the Giants' starting quarterback. Winston, who entered the game in relief of Dart during Monday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams, faced significant struggles. However, Harbaugh expressed confidence in his roster.
“Absolute faith in all our players. That’s why all the guys are here. Jameis is one of our guys who obviously is here for a reason. He’s a very good football player,” Harbaugh stated. “That would go for any position, any player on our team. … Injuries in the NFL are part of it, at any position.”
Dart sustained the injury during the first quarter of the Giants' game against the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Monday, September 21, 2026. He was seen walking to the locker room after a hard hit.
Coach Harbaugh was seen reacting on the sideline during the second quarter of the same game.
