Giants Assistant Chad Hall Faces Brother-in-Law Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles

New York Giants wide receivers coach Chad Hall will have a unique vantage point when his team faces Matthew Stafford on Monday night in Los Angeles. Hall is Stafford's brother-in-law, as his sister, Kelly, is married to the Rams' veteran quarterback. Both families are anticipated to attend the game.

"I get to see my nieces. It's good," Hall said Friday. "In this business, it's hard to see family, especially for these seven months — it's seven days a week. So it's good to see family. But it's nothing more than that, we're both competitors, we're both out there trying to win."

Hall, a former four-season NFL receiver, is in his second year with the Giants, having previously served as an assistant quarterbacks coach. The Giants reportedly pursued a trade for Stafford last offseason when his contract situation with the Rams was uncertain, offering a lucrative extension. Stafford ultimately signed a one-year, $55 million extension with the Rams, while the Giants selected quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round of the draft.

"Of course, I wanted to bring the families together," Hall commented when asked about his role in potentially recruiting Stafford. "But things happened how they happened. That was a fun couple of weeks."

Hall has been credited with aiding in Dart's development and has earned praise from the Giants' receiving corps this season. "He's live," said wide receiver Malik Nabers of Hall. "He's live. If you know, you know, if you don't, you don't. He's live, though. That's a good thing. It's a good thing."

Meanwhile, offensive passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan is focused on the upcoming game against the Rams, not his future Week 3 matchup against his former team, the Titans. "Don't think about them at all at the moment, to be honest," Callahan stated. "Have plenty on our plate to go get ready to play the Rams."

Callahan expressed well wishes for his former quarterback, Cam Ward, the first overall pick from last year, who faced criticism after a difficult Week 1 performance. "I love Cam as a person and a player, I root for him," Callahan said. "When we play him, I hope we do our part. I'm fully focused on what we got, we got a tough game ahead of us and a lot of things we got to do well and we'll worry about that next week.''

Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson was absent from team activities on Friday due to a family matter and is expected to return on Saturday. Defensive linemen Chauncey Golston (neck), linebacker Micah McFadden (neck), and offensive linemen Sisi Mauigoa (shoulder), Greg Newsome II (ribs), and Andrew Thomas (ankle) were all limited participants in practice on Friday.
