Giants Acquire Quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Vikings
The move comes after the season-ending injury to Jaxson Dart, with Jameis Winston having started in the interim.
The New York Giants have acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick, according to multiple reports. This move adds a new quarterback to the Giants' roster following the season-ending injury sustained by Jaxson Dart.
Mccarthy, 23, was selected 10th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, four picks after the Giants drafted wide receiver Malik Nabers. McCarthy spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a torn meniscus. He started 10 games last year but lost the starting job to Kyler Murray this season. Prior to the trade, McCarthy was the Vikings' third-string quarterback, with Carson Wentz starting in place of an injured Murray.
Jameis Winston began at quarterback for the Giants in their Week 3 victory over the Tennessee Titans, the team's first start for Dart following his injury.
