NFL fans lauded an "incredible" performance of the United States national anthem prior to the New York Giants' season-opening game against the Dallas Cowboys. The ceremony, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, served as a tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks, which were commemorated two days prior.

A joint quintet from the New York City Police Department and Fire Department delivered an a cappella rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Social media users described the performance as "goosebumps," "gorgeous," and "chills," with many expressing appreciation for the tribute on the emotional occasion.

Before the anthem, the Giants held a moment of silence to remember those lost on September 11, 2001. A photo montage of victims, contributed by season ticket holders, was displayed on the stadium's videoboards. Two columns of light, replicating the image of the fallen Twin Towers, were projected into the night sky from one endzone.

Fans arriving at the stadium were greeted by Ladder 343, a ceremonial FDNY firetruck named in honor of the 343 FDNY members who died on 9/11. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation also displayed a steel beam from the World Trade Center.
