Gia Giudice Defends Restaurant's Adults-Only Policy Amidst Negative Reviews

Gia Giudice has responded to criticism surrounding her new restaurant, Il Vero, which implements an adults-only policy after 5 p.m. The establishment, co-owned by Giudice and Maria Sausa, soft-launched in Westwood, New Jersey, on October 7 and aims to provide an "adult-oriented dining and lounge experience."

The restaurant's website states that dinner service, beginning at 5 p.m., is intended exclusively for adult guests. This policy drew negative attention following a one-star Google review that alleged a group with babies in strollers was denied entry after arriving at 5 p.m. on a Saturday.

Giudice addressed the controversy in a TikTok video, clarifying the restaurant's intention. "The first thing that I want to address is that we are a restaurant that only accommodates adult dining," she stated. She acknowledged that while this might disappoint some, Westwood offers numerous kid-friendly dining options. Giudice emphasized her goal to introduce a "different" and "elevated" atmosphere that adults were seeking, contributing to a new vibe in the "very family-oriented town."

She also noted that the restaurant had only been open for a week and was not yet serving lunch, but suggested that children might be permitted during lunch service in the future.

Public reaction in the comments section of social media platforms has shown support for the policy, with many users expressing appreciation for an adult-focused dining environment. Comments included sentiments like "not every space needs to accommodate kids" and "When I'm kid free and go out with the girls or with hubby for dinner I do not want to hear a child."

Business partner Maria Sausa also commented on the situation, telling the Daily Voice that the decision was intentional. "Our decision to create an adults-only dining experience at Il Vero was intentional," Sausa said. "There are many wonderful family-friendly restaurants in the area, and we think that's fantastic. However, we wanted to offer something different."

Sausa further explained that both adult-focused and family-friendly concepts can coexist, and neither should be "criticized simply for being different." She differentiated between constructive feedback and criticism stemming from personal preferences, noting that negative reviews from a single visitor do not necessarily indicate a flaw in the restaurant's operation.
