A German politician has proposed holding sex parties at city hall as a novel approach to public engagement and economic development. Julian Ferrat, a 35-year-old council member in the industrial city of Mannheim representing the liberal Die Mannheimer party, unveiled the plan at a recent city council meeting.
Ferrat, who has publicly embraced nudism and is known for provocative photo shoots, stated that "group sex with city council members would be the ultimate in closeness with the citizens." He noted that there are no current laws prohibiting such events at city hall.
The politician claims to have received interest from approximately 50 individuals who are open-minded about the proposal. He is currently in the process of vetting these interested parties, including personal meetings with those he does not know. Ferrat intends for some of these individuals to be part of the local swingers community to ensure legitimacy.
Ferrat outlined a two-part goal for his initiative: first, to destigmatize swinging culture, and second, to promote his vision of Mannheim as a "nudist swinger paradise," drawing inspiration from Cap d’Agde, a French nudist resort. He believes this could generate revenue for the city without increasing taxes or fees for residents.
Officials in Mannheim have expressed "serious doubts considering the admissibility and feasibility" of Ferrat's proposal. Despite these reservations, Ferrat remains determined, asserting that "My political swinger party will definitely take place."
Ferrat, described as the country's "craziest councilor," has previously organized trips to nudist resorts. He argued that the combination of nudism and swinging contributes to the success of resorts like Cap d’Agde, contrasting it with declining nudist tourism and increasing swinger tourism.
