Georgia Toffolo Opens Up About Stress, Fertility Struggles

Georgia Toffolo has shared an candid reflection on what she describes as a "high stress year," detailing her ongoing fertility journey and the impact of her husband James Watt's business challenges. The former "Made In Chelsea" star, 31, revealed on Instagram that she has been "stuck in fight or flight for too long" and struggles significantly with calming down.

Toffolo explained that she recently used AI analysis, connecting her calendar and Oura ring data, to understand her stress levels. The results indicated that even during holidays, a time typically associated with relaxation, she experienced high stress. She attributed this to placing excessive pressure on herself to create content, strategize for future work, and review products, rather than fully embracing downtime.

"I don't lean into a holiday enough because that's the point of it, right?" Toffolo stated. "Whereas I see a holiday as an opportunity to enrich up, push harder, reset ready to go back. And actually, I need to learn the art of doing absolutely nothing, which I find incredibly difficult."

Her struggles with stress are compounded by her fertility journey. Toffolo has been open about her efforts to conceive with her husband, James Watt. Last month, she shared that after 11 months of trying, she was "still not pregnant." She noted that the prospect of reaching 12 months without conception, which is often considered unexplained infertility, has been unsettling.

"It's so tough," she said, explaining that while she uses humor to cope, she is also cautious not to diminish the emotional impact of their experience. "The only thing I get upset about is our little family and how – I don't know how to put it – how excited everyone is for this next chapter, and the chapter's not starting."

Adding to the pressures of the year, Toffolo's husband, James Watt, faced significant financial difficulties when his company, BrewDog, accumulated debts exceeding £500 million before entering administration.

Toffolo described herself as an "addict" in the sense of being driven to create bigger businesses and improve herself, finding balance challenging. She acknowledged that this intense drive, while potentially a "beautiful gift if harnessed correctly," often means she doesn't recognize when she is in a state of fight or flight, which is counterproductive when trying to conceive.

Recently, the couple traveled to Greece for a holiday. However, Toffolo admitted she was already finding it difficult to switch off, sharing a picture of herself reading a book about legal systems, captioning it, "First 24 hours in Greece round up. Already on the grind..."

She has expressed gratitude to her followers for sharing their stories and advice, but also revealed feelings of her body failing her and questioning if she is the issue, particularly as Watt has two daughters from a previous marriage and medical tests have found no physical problems with him. Despite the difficulties, Toffolo maintains a sense of optimism, stating, "We are not in control."
