Brandon Keller, 32, has been sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus an additional 25 years for the murder of Bruce William Dupree and the hijacking of his vehicle in Bulloch County, Georgia. Keller was found guilty on ten counts, including murder, aggravated assault, and hijacking a motor vehicle.
In October 2024, Dupree, 43, stopped on the side of Interstate 16 in Bulloch County, reportedly to assist Keller, who was hitchhiking. According to reports, Keller, under the influence of drugs, then attacked Dupree, slashing his throat and dragging his body into a grassy median. A driver called 911 after witnessing Dupree bleeding and calling for help on the roadside. Dupree later died from his injuries.
Authorities quickly apprehended Keller in Dupree's stolen car at a local motel. In court, Keller asserted his belief in being a "divine being" and stated his intention to tell the truth only in a trusted setting. He also reportedly told jailers that he had gouged out his own eyes and bitten off part of his tongue to be moved to a medical facility.
Judge Matthew Hube described Keller as "the worst of us," noting that he exploited someone offering help. Acting Bulloch County District Attorney Jillian Gibson expressed gratitude for the conviction, stating it would protect the community from a dangerous individual. Mandy Moore, Keller's niece, addressed the court, acknowledging the irreplaceable loss of Dupree and expressing hope that no other family would endure similar suffering due to Keller's actions.
