A 21-year-old Georgia man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and hit-and-run after allegedly attempting to run over a jogger multiple times on July 19. The incident reportedly began when the victim offered a simple "good morning" greeting to the suspect, Jesse Davis.

According to a criminal warrant and statements from Cobb County Police, Davis, who was parked in a 2004 Nissan Sentra, got into his vehicle and drove directly toward the woman at a high speed after she greeted him. The victim attempted to flee to her home, but Davis pursued her, allegedly attempting to strike her with his car a second time.

During the incident, the woman hid behind a dumpster to call 911, with a recording of her call capturing her speaking in hushed tones to the dispatcher about her location. While she was hidden, Davis allegedly yelled profanities and made a third attempt to drive his vehicle at her before fleeing the scene.

Davis's erratic driving continued after he left the parking lot. He reportedly struck a parked car before ultimately crashing into a light pole, sustaining injuries to his face. Police located him at the scene of this final collision. The victim's ability to recall Davis's license plate number was instrumental in helping authorities track his vehicle.

Lloydethan White, a neighbor who witnessed parts of the incident, stated that Davis nearly hit his car while pursuing the jogger. "I think it's wrong that a woman has to fear for her life," White commented, "and she's just trying to go about her normal day and workout."

Davis allegedly continued to driver erratically before fleeing the area. Davis eventually hit a parked car before crashing into a light post.

Davis was taken to Cobb County Jail and is being held on a $5,720 bond. The motive behind the alleged attack remains unclear, and police have not indicated whether Davis and the woman had any prior interactions beyond the greeting that reportedly triggered the incident.
