A Georgia man is accused of repeatedly attempting to run over a jogger after she greeted him, according to authorities. Jesse Allen Davis, 21, was arrested on July 19 in Marietta, Georgia, approximately 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.
Police stated that Davis allegedly targeted the woman after she said “good morning” to him while she was exercising near an apartment complex. According to Cobb County Police Department spokesman Eric Smith, Davis got into his vehicle and attempted to strike the jogger.
The alleged victim reported that Davis attempted to hit her with his car on three separate occasions. During the initial attempt, he grazed her. He then pursued her through a parking lot, ultimately crashing into a parked car before colliding with a pole, which resulted in injuries to his face. The woman managed to evade him by taking cover behind a dumpster and calling 911.
Another motorist, Lloydethan White, reported that he was also nearly struck by Davis's vehicle. White told WSB-TV that the incident made him feel it was wrong for someone to fear for their life while simply going about their day.
Davis was taken to Cobb County Jail and is being held on $5,720 bond. He faces charges of aggravated assault and hit-and-run. It is unclear if he has retained legal counsel.
