Georgia Husband Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife's Lover

A Georgia man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing a man he believed was having an affair with his wife. Daniel Roman-Cortez, 44, was taken into custody early Sunday morning by Doraville police.

Officers responded to an unspecified restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville, located approximately 20 miles north of Atlanta, where they found 44-year-old Pablo Gutierrez-Gallegos unresponsive outside the establishment. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two individuals inside the restaurant sustained injuries from shattered glass resulting from the gunfire.

Roman-Cortez reportedly attempted to flee the scene in a blue pickup truck but was stopped by law enforcement. According to police, he then stated, "I shot him. I killed him."

Investigators with the Doraville Police Department determined that the shooting was the result of a personal dispute. Roman-Cortez allegedly informed officers that Gutierrez-Gallegos was "sleeping with his wife."

As of Monday afternoon, records indicate Roman-Cortez is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail. No attorney has yet been listed for him. The DeKalb County District Attorney's Office has been contacted for comment.

Gutierrez-Gallegos's family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of funeral services and repatriating his remains to Veracruz, Mexico. The fundraiser describes Gutierrez-Gallegos as a beloved and friendly individual who "did not deserve to leave this world this way."

Daniel Roman-Cortez, 44, allegedly told police he shot and killed the man his wife was sleeping with after opening fire at an unspecified restaurant on Buford Highway in Doraville.
