Students at Georgetown University are reportedly planning a Charlie Kirk "lookalike contest" to commemorate the anniversary of the conservative activist's assassination. The event, announced on the anonymous social media platform Fizz, had garnered over 2,200 upvotes from students on the Washington, D.C., campus, according to screenshots shared with Fox News Digital from the university's Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter.
The promotion for the Sept. 10 event stated, "Charlie Kirk lookalike contest. September 10th 2026. Pull up to Copley Lawn to speak the truth while the cost is high." Georgetown's TPUSA chapter interprets the slogan as a mocking reference to the high cost of speaking out amid political division.
Fizz requires users to be affiliated with Georgetown University, verified by a "@georgetown.edu" email address, to participate on the school's forum.
Discussions on the platform have also included a potential Erika Kirk look-alike contest, with one user suggesting the winner of the Charlie Kirk contest could be crowned "prom king with the winner of this."
In response to the reported plans, the Georgetown TPUSA chapter organized a campus table with American flags and signs condemning the proposed event. Heidi Sui, president of the TPUSA chapter at Georgetown, expressed deep concern, stating, "The TPUSA Chapter at Georgetown finds it deeply disturbing that the concept of a 'Charlie Kirk Lookalike Contest' on the one-year anniversary of his assassination could gain this much traction at Georgetown."
Sui added, "I was originally drawn to Georgetown because it is supposed to be a place where people with radically different beliefs can debate one another. But I think some of us have lost sight of the difference between disagreeing with someone's politics and celebrating their death. As students of Georgetown University — the nation’s top institution for foreign service — we have a responsibility to prevent the politicization of a tragedy that would inflame, rather than defuse, our existing partisan divide."
A spokesperson for Georgetown University stated, "We have seen no activity on campus related to these posts. Georgetown is not planning such an event and, to our knowledge, no student organization is hosting or planning such an event. We take these anonymous posts seriously and condemn their language as deeply inconsistent with Georgetown University’s values. We are monitoring this closely to ensure the safety of the University community."
The university acknowledged that while its policies support the free expression of ideas, "making light of a victim of violence is counter to our values and deeply disappointing." The statement also noted that students are expected to adhere to campus policies, including the Speech and Expression policy and the Code of Student Conduct.
