George Santos Reflects on Reality Show Experience: 'Harder Than Prison'

George Santos, the former U.S. Representative known for his controversial tenure, has spoken about his experience on the reality television show 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.' Santos described the competition, which involved authentic military exercises in the Malaysian jungle, as more demanding than his time in prison.

Santos was one of fourteen celebrity recruits who underwent rigorous physical and mental challenges on the show. He noted that the experience provided him with a significant lesson in humility. "I wanted to be able to engage with people at a human level," Santos told the Daily Mail.

During his participation, Santos was a central figure in the show's narrative, with his past controversies frequently brought to the forefront. The show's producers, he suggested, might have been more prepared for his presence than he was for the show's demands. "Oh my God, production should have given me a bra," Santos said after seeing the first episode.

His interactions with fellow contestants, including Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville and actress Ruby Rose, were also highlighted. Glanville humorously remarked on the political dynamics, stating, "I said, 'We're not going to talk politics or religion.' And now look at who I'm sitting in between," while sitting next to Santos. Rose, despite acknowledging his past misappropriated funds for cosmetic procedures, admitted he was less annoying in person than she had anticipated.

Santos also spoke positively about his friendships formed on the show, specifically mentioning Candace Cameron Bure. He described Bure as inspiring and a strong competitor, noting her ability to perform well at 50 years old.

The challenges on 'Special Forces' put recruits through demanding scenarios, testing their physical endurance and mental resilience. Santos's participation added a unique dimension to the show, given his background as a twice-expelled congressman.
