George Kittle Trolls Michigan Alumni After Iowa's Upset Victory
The 49ers tight end celebrated Iowa's win with a jab at former Wolverines.
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, an Iowa alum, taunted Michigan alumni on social media following the Hawkeyes' dramatic 20-19 upset victory over the Wolverines.
The game-winning touchdown came as time expired on a pass from Iowa quarterback Hank Brown to Reece Vander Zee in the Michigan end zone. Iowa, ranked No. 17 entering the game, defeated No. 18 Michigan at Michigan Stadium.
Kittle, a former Hawkeye, took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his excitement. He initially posted, "HAWKEYES NEVER A DOUBT" shortly after the game concluded. He then tagged former NFL lineman Taylor Lewan and sportscaster Rich Eisen, both of whom attended Michigan, and wrote, "@TaylorLewan77 @RichEisenShow @richeisen get ready to learn HAWKEYE buddies."
The upset marked Iowa's first victory over Michigan since a similar upset in 2016. Despite the celebratory mood, Kittle had to balance his alma mater's triumph with his professional obligations, as the 49ers were scheduled to play the following day.
