George Clooney Describes Presley Gerber's Death as 'Devastating'
The actor, a close family friend, shared his thoughts on the tragic loss of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber's son.
George Clooney has described the death of Presley Gerber, son of his close friends Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as "one of the most devastating things" to happen to their family. Presley Gerber died at the age of 27 on September 20 at a rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He had reportedly checked into the Resolutions Living facility on September 19.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Clooney, who co-founded Casamigos Tequila with Rande Gerber and was referred to as "Uncle George" by the Gerber children, shared that the family is still processing the grief. "I don't think we're even in the position of being able to talk about it," he told the outlet. "It's one of the most devastating things that's happened to our family. And their family is just … as you can imagine, it's the worst thing that could ever happen to a family."
Months before his death, Presley Gerber posted on Instagram about undergoing an "ibogaine flood dose," a psychedelic treatment at a wellness clinic in Cancún, Mexico. He described feeling "absolutely terrified" but acknowledged he was "starting finding my way back to myself." He also expressed a hope that it would be the last time he needed treatment.
Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, were seen visiting Kaia Gerber's home in Los Angeles in the days following Presley's death. Sources told The Daily Mail that Clooney was close with Presley and communicated with him often, offering advice and support, particularly after Presley's 2018 DUI. "George would spend hours talking to Presley," a source told the publication. "George is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande's family."
