Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith recently trained with his former New York Jets teammate Matt Simms, who now operates a quarterback coaching business. The two spent three days in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, working on various aspects of quarterback play before the start of training camp.
Simms, who was a backup quarterback for the Jets during Smith's initial tenure with the team, reached out to Smith a few months prior to their training sessions. Smith had contacted Simms expressing interest in his coaching methods and drills.
"He actually reached out to me a few months ago just saying that, ‘Hey, when I come back into town, I would love to get some work with you,’" Simms stated. "I see the stuff that you’re doing and your coaching, your drills, and just want to get some lessons and learn what you’re doing."
Simms Complete, founded by Simms, focuses on coaching quarterbacks across different age levels, from youth players to professionals. In addition to working with Smith, Simms also invited fellow Jets quarterbacks Bailey Zappe and rookie Cade Klubnik to participate in the workouts.
