Gemma Owen, known for her appearance on "Love Island," has revealed her separation from boyfriend Red Morgan, a property tycoon heir and showjumper. Owen, 23, stated that the couple mutually decided to end their relationship this summer after realizing they desired different paths.
The announcement comes shortly after the unexpected death of a close family friend, a loss that compounded a difficult period for Owen. "We had some really sad news of a really close family friend. He passed away really suddenly and unexpectedly," Owen shared in a YouTube vlog. "And within a day or two, Red and I split up... it's been, as you can imagine, a pretty hard few weeks, months."
Owen emphasized that the breakup was amicable and mutual, with no animosity between herself and Morgan. "We didn't want to waste anyone's time if we weren't both sort of aligned with what we want," she explained.
Owen and Morgan, 22, had known each other through equestrian circles before their relationship became public in April 2025. Morgan is the son of property tycoon Steve Morgan, founder of the housebuilding firm Redrow. He has pursued a career in property while continuing his international showjumping career.
This relationship was Owen's most prominent public romance since her previous one with fellow "Love Island" contestant Luca Bish, which ended in November 2022. Since then, she has maintained a more private approach to her romantic life.
Owen is currently featured with her family in the Prime Video docuseries "Meet The Owens." The series chronicles the life of her father, former England footballer Michael Owen, his wife, and their four children. A significant storyline in the series follows Gemma's transition from dressage to race riding, an endeavor that saw her compete in the Markel Magnolia Cup charity race in July. She has expressed interest in obtaining an amateur jockey license and continuing in horse racing.
