Gemma Collins Criticizes 'Fake' TV Personalities, Affirms Four True Celebrity Friends
The reality star shared her views on authenticity in the entertainment industry during a podcast interview.
Gemma Collins, known for her role in "The Only Way Is Essex" (TOWIE), has voiced her opinion on the prevalence of insincere individuals in the television industry. In a recent interview on the "At Home With The Thomas Bros" podcast, Collins stated that after years in showbusiness, she considers herself to have only four genuine celebrity friends.
Collins, 45, expressed a preference for spending time at home rather than attending industry parties. When asked by podcast host Scott Thomas about encountering fake people in the industry, she responded affirmatively. "I don't mix with anyone. I ain't got time for ass licks and I will never ass lick," Collins said. "At the end of the day, you're a fool if you think you've got friends in this business. It's showbusiness, not show... friends."
She identified some individuals she considers real, including "some TOWIE friends," Dawn Ward, and DJ Fat Tony. "You are all real," she added.
Collins elaborated on her limited circle, stating, "I've made four friends since being in TV and that's how it stays. I can't bear seeing the ass licks. They are so, you know, you know." She further commented, "I don't want to be around the ass licks. I've got enough about me. I'm all right on my own."
The conversation also touched upon past conflicts during "I'm A Celebrity." Collins recalled significant arguments that occurred on the show involving Adam Thomas, former footballer Jimmy Bullard, and boxer David Haye. She noted that while she got along well with Bullard, the specific incidents were in the past. She also mentioned that Adam Thomas later spoke about feeling exploited by ITV during the show's live final and sought therapy as a result.
Collins also reflected on her own intuition and her connection to her late mother, Joan, who passed away in July 2026 at the age of 70. Collins spoke about her mother's psychic abilities and how she believes these traits have been passed down to her. "My mum was a fantastic woman. I am me because of my mum," Collins stated, finding comfort in the belief that her mother is no longer in pain and continues to connect with her.
