Gemma Collins' Big Brother Stint Criticized as 'Waste of Money' After 48-Hour Exit
Fans express disappointment as the reality star departs the house shortly after a highly publicized return.
Gemma Collins' anticipated return to the Big Brother house concluded after just 48 hours, drawing criticism from viewers who deemed her brief appearance a "huge waste of money."
Collins, known for her role in TOWIE, entered the house on Friday amid significant fanfare. However, her stay was cut short when she exited on Monday, less than two days after her arrival. Producers had reportedly hoped her presence would generate more drama or elicit her characteristic candid opinions among the housemates.
Instead, Collins primarily hosted tasks and parties for the contestants before making an abrupt departure through the Diary Room. Given her substantial fee for participating, fans took to social media to voice their dissatisfaction.
Online commentary included remarks such as "Gemma should have been in there for longer," and "Genuinely wtf was the point in Gemma going in?" Others expressed that her two-day stint felt uneventful, with one user stating, "Ngl I love Gemma Collins but she hasn't done much in her two days..."
Speaking in the Diary Room, Collins reflected on her time, calling it "a moment in her life she'd treasure forever." During her stay, she also tearfully shared personal reflections on the recent death of her mother, Joan, who passed away the day before Collins was due to marry her fiancé, Rami Hawash. Collins recounted the experience, noting, "I was meant to get married on the Thursday and my mum passed away on the Wednesday. What can you do?"
Collins was the second celebrity guest to enter the house this series, following Jedward's brief appearance the previous month.
Big Brother continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ITV2 and ITVX.
