Gemma Atkinson Discusses Annoyances with Fiancé Gorka Marquez

Gemma Atkinson has shared some of the minor irritations she experiences with her fiancé, professional dancer Gorka Marquez.

Speaking on their podcast, 'Lost in Translation,' Atkinson, 41, described situations that can trigger her frustration. Marquez, 36, who she met on the BBC dance show 'Strictly Come Dancing' in 2018, is the subject of some of her playful complaints.

The couple, who got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2021 and are parents to daughter Mia, seven, and son Thiago, three, navigate the everyday ups and downs of relationships. Atkinson revealed that one particular annoyance stems from phone calls when service is poor.

'When you ring me and the service is bad, you go, 'Hello, can you hear me?' she explained. 'You shout at me!' Marquez confirmed. Atkinson elaborated that she struggles when Marquez continues speaking despite her inability to hear him due to bad reception, leading to repeated dropped calls. She expressed a wish for him to wait for better service before attempting to reconnect.

Marquez responded by suggesting Atkinson has "anger issues" and needs "anger management." Atkinson countered, stating she simply "needs a strong coffee and a punch bag."

This revelation follows a prior incident in which Marquez made a suggestive comment to Atkinson about their sex life. During a discussion about their fitness levels on the podcast, Marquez asked Atkinson, "Can I pipe you tonight?" Atkinson expressed surprise at the public nature of the question, noting that "pipe" is Urban Dictionary slang for sexual intercourse. The couple then humorously recalled a past instance where Marquez had asked about "pipe or no pipe" before an outing, implying it would determine his plans for the evening. Marquez added cheekily that he didn't want to "come back and have to thumb in a softie."
