Gazans Endure Daily Strikes a Year After Ceasefire Agreement
Despite a truce aimed at ending the conflict, Israeli forces continue near-daily strikes in Gaza, with significant casualties reported.

A year after a ceasefire agreement intended to end hostilities, residents of Gaza continue to face near-daily Israeli airstrikes. According to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, over 1,400 people have been killed in these strikes since the truce began on October 10 of last year. The health ministry's figures are considered reliable by the United Nations.
The ceasefire was part of an exchange that saw thousands of Palestinians held by Israel released in return for the remaining hostages held in Gaza. This agreement followed Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and the taking of 251 hostages.
However, Israel asserts that its continued military operations in Gaza are targeted at Hamas operatives, whom they accuse of violating the ceasefire. The Gaza health ministry reports that the total death toll from Israeli attacks since the commencement of the war in Gaza has now surpassed 74,000.
International journalists are currently restricted from entering Gaza to report freely, with reporting often originating from locations like Jerusalem.
