The property at 1284 Stanyan Street is situated across from Mount Sutro Forest and near local amenities and UCSF. Public records indicate that Gavin Newsom's parents, Bill Newsom and Tessa Menzies, resided at this address in the fall of 1967, during Bill Newsom's campaign for the city's Board of Supervisors.
According to election materials from November 1967, Bill Newsom listed Stanyan Street as his home address. Gavin Newsom was born on October 10, 1967. While the home is connected to the governor's earliest days, the exact duration of his stay there as an infant is not definitively documented. Newsom's memoir states his family lived on Octavia Street at the time of his birth.
The house, built in 1951, features redwood siding added in 1979. The current owner has updated the kitchen and bathrooms. The property spans two lots, totaling over 9,600 square feet, and includes a top-level deck, garden patios, and city views. The primary suite offers a large walk-in closet, a meditation nook, and views toward the Golden Gate Bridge and downtown San Francisco.
