Gascoigne's Daughter-in-Law Fails to Meet Fundraising Goal for Experimental Cancer Treatment

Jaimee Sharp, the 28-year-old daughter-in-law of former soccer star Paul Gascoigne, has announced that she will not proceed with a life-extending clinical trial in Ohio after failing to raise the full £320,000 target.

Sharp, who was seeking funds for the TarGet-D clinic trial in the US, had raised £254,519. She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support but stated that without the complete amount, committing to the two-year treatment program would not be financially responsible.

She had undergone major surgery to remove as much of her incurable brain tumor as possible. The treatment was intended to give her more time with her five-year-old son, Teddy, whom she shares with Paul Gascoigne's son, Mason.

Instead of the TarGet-D trial, Sharp will now pursue private hyperthermia treatment alongside her ongoing chemotherapy, under the recommendation of Dr. Paul Mulholland. Hyperthermia has shown promise in improving survival rates for aggressive, high-grade brain tumors.

Sharp stated that all funds raised will continue to be allocated towards her cancer treatment and associated care costs. She explained that due to the incurable nature of her cancer, further treatments may be necessary in the future. Having these funds available will allow her to act quickly if her condition progresses or if new treatment opportunities arise, avoiding the need to restart fundraising under urgent deadlines.

She emphasized that the core purpose of the fundraiser—to secure more time with her son—remains unchanged. Sharp thanked donors for their belief, hope, and support, which enable her to continue pursuing treatment without financial barriers.

Mason Gascoigne is the son of Paul Gascoigne and his ex-wife Sheryl. Both Mason and his sister Bianca were adopted by Paul. Mason and Jaimee welcomed Teddy in March 2021, making Paul Gascoigne a grandfather. Bianca also has a daughter, Blake Sunshine, born in February 2023.
