Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil has announced the death of his father, sharing an emotional tribute on social media.

O'Neil posted on Instagram to reveal the news, expressing his deep appreciation for his father's influence. "Thanks for everything Dad!" he wrote. "I couldn't have done any of it without you. You taught me football, you taught me values and you taught me how to look after everyone that's important to me. What an incredible example you set!! I'll miss you forever mate! Rest in peace, Dad!! Love you."

Tributes from the football community quickly followed. Ipswich Town's official account commented: "The thoughts of everyone at Ipswich Town are with you and your family at this incredibly sad time, Gary." Aston Villa midfielder Joao Gomes, who played under O'Neil at Wolves, expressed his condolences, writing, "I'm sorry for you, Boss."

O'Neil's daughter, Summer-Mae, also shared a message of love on the platform.

The former midfielder is in his first season as manager of Ipswich, having been appointed in the summer. He has led his team to two wins and two defeats in their four Premier League matches so far this season, placing Ipswich 10th in the league standings.
