Gary Kemp Discusses Emotional Aftermath of Sadie Frost's Departure for Jude Law

Gary Kemp has shared that he experienced years of anger and heartbreak following his wife Sadie Frost's departure for actor Jude Law, a period that led him to therapy and a resurgence in his songwriting.

Kemp, 67, married Frost, 61, in 1988. Their son, Finlay, was born two years later. The couple separated in 1993, with their divorce finalized in 1995. Kemp recalled crying regularly after the breakup and returning to music, having previously set his guitar aside for four years to focus on acting.

Frost met Law, 53, while they played lovers in the 1994 crime thriller "Shopping." Kemp admitted on Gyles Brandreth's podcast, "Rosebud," that he sought therapy to cope with the separation, stating, "Therapy. Absolute opposite to the drug... I stopped drinking."

He described the emotional mix of anger and tears that followed, which ultimately inspired him to write music again. "I put my guitar away for four years in a box while I was doing my acting and various films. And that breakup had me reach for my guitar," he said.

Kemp released his debut solo album, "Little Bruises," in 1995, with songs influenced by his marriage breakdown. Frost, in her 2010 autobiography "Crazy Days," acknowledged developing feelings for Law while still married to Kemp, despite concerns about jeopardizing her family life.

Following their divorce, Frost and Law married in 1997 and were together for six years, divorcing in 2003. They have three children: Rafferty, Iris, and Rudy. They became prominent figures within the "Primrose Hill set," a group of celebrities known for their social life, which included Kate Moss and Noel Gallagher.

Kemp later married costume designer Lauren Barber, 43, in 2003. They have three sons: Milo, Kit, and Rex. He expressed finding great happiness with Barber and noted his initial wariness about serious relationships while raising his son Finlay alone.

Kemp met Barber at a charity event. Their relationship experienced an initial separation before they reconciled.

Finlay, now a music manager, has a daughter, Daya Wild Rose Kemp, with his wife Charlotte Mallory. Kemp described becoming a grandfather as a beautiful experience that has brought his family closer, with Barber playing a significant role in Daya's life.

Reflecting on fatherhood and grandfatherhood, Kemp stated that while the birth of his own children brought shock and fear, grandchildren bring a sense of love and pride.

Currently promoting his book "1967," about Beatles manager Brian Epstein, Kemp expressed contentment with his current family life, citing the good health of his children as an ideal state.
