Gakpo and Isak Injured Ahead of Manchester City Clash

Liverpool is concerned about the fitness of two forwards ahead of their Premier League match against Manchester City. Cody Gakpo of the Netherlands and Sweden's Alexander Isak have both returned early from international duty due to injuries and will be assessed by club medical staff.

Gakpo was forced off the field in the 17th minute of the Netherlands' recent match, appearing to clutch his left ankle. He will not participate in the team's remaining games during this international break. Isak sustained a thigh problem, described by Sweden manager Graham Potter as minor, but due to the tight schedule, he will also miss further matches.

Both players have had strong starts to the season. Gakpo has scored two goals and provided four assists, while Isak, who has overcome previous injury setbacks, has already scored four goals this term.

The severity of their injuries is not yet known. The club will conduct evaluations in the coming days. Liverpool's next fixture is against Manchester City at Anfield, a week from Sunday. This match follows news that Manchester City has been found guilty of numerous charges related to alleged financial rule breaches by the Premier League.

Another forward, Hugo Ekitike, remains sidelined with a long-term injury.
