Gabriel's Bar & Restaurant, a New York City establishment frequented by political and business elites, has resolved a rent dispute that threatened its closure. The restaurant faced potential eviction from its Central Park South location over $88,246 in unpaid rent and expenses.

Landlord Atco Properties & Management initiated legal action on July 31, seeking to recover the outstanding amount, which included approximately $81,000 in monthly rent and nearly $6,000 for water services that began accumulating on July 1. The total also accounted for a previously agreed-upon debt settlement.

Atco Properties & Management has since stated that all issues have been resolved and the eviction action is being dismissed. Gabriel's, which has been a dining destination for over three decades, did not immediately respond to inquiries.

The Northern Italian restaurant, located at 40 Central Park South, has hosted numerous high-profile figures. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and political figures like former Gov. Andrew Cuomo have been among its patrons. "60 Minutes" journalists such as Mike Wallace, Ed Bradley, Bob Simon, and Morley Safer also considered Gabriel's a regular hangout.

Owner Gabriel Aiello reopened the restaurant's current location in the summer of 2021 after a planned spring 2020 grand opening was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the shutdown, Aiello reportedly took out additional loans and mortgaged his home to cover ongoing expenses, including staff salaries and rent.

Court filings indicate that Gabriel's entered into multiple rent-relief and lease modification agreements with ATCO between April 2021 and January 2025. The resolution means that the establishment will continue to serve its clientele and host private events, maintaining its status as a venue for influential New Yorkers to gather.
