Gabby Williams Honors Deebo Samuel Ahead of WNBA Finals Game

Golden State Valkyries forward Gabby Williams entered Game 2 of the WNBA Finals on Monday night wearing a San Francisco 49ers jersey honoring wide receiver Deebo Samuel, demonstrating her support for the Bay Area.

The Valkyries were set to face the Atlanta Dream at 5:00 p.m., with the 49ers scheduled to kick off their game against the Washington Commanders at Levi’s Stadium shortly after.

This season marks the Golden State Valkyries' second year as a WNBA franchise and their first appearance in the Finals. Head coach Natalie Nakase, in her second season leading the team after three years as an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces, has guided the team to contention.

The Valkyries secured a 68-64 victory in Game 1 on Saturday night, fueled by a 17-point fourth quarter. Williams, 30, contributed significantly to the win with 26 points, four rebounds, and two assists in her Finals debut. She shot 36.4% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range over 33 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 49ers are having a strong start to their season, achieving a 5-0 record for the first time since 2023. Samuel has been a key player, with 16 receptions for 206 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to 78 rushing yards on nine carries. Despite his performance, Samuel is expected to miss several weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained last week.
