The long-awaited all-British heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been officially confirmed for December 11 in Cardiff, Wales. Boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh announced the bout today, confirming that the £150 million ($200 million) fight will be held in the United Kingdom after weeks of negotiations.

Netflix will stream the event live, with ring walks expected around 2 a.m. UK time to accommodate American audiences. This late start time was a key factor in securing the venue, as Wembley Stadium was unable to obtain the necessary late-night permit, while Cardiff's Principality Stadium could.

"For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight," Alalshikh stated. "I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The fight had originally been scheduled for November 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York. However, a concerted effort by Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn led to a re-negotiation to bring the bout to British soil. Hearn had emphasized that British fans deserved to witness the showdown in their home country.

Fury's name appearing first on the fight card represents an early win in the ongoing public relations battle between the two boxers. Bookmakers currently favor Fury, with odds at 8/15 compared to Joshua's 13/8. The fight is expected to generate significant revenue, with hotels in Cardiff reportedly sold out in anticipation of the event.

The history between Joshua and Fury dates back over a decade to their emergence as top heavyweight prospects. Fury became a world champion by defeating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, while Joshua captured his first world title in 2016. The two were close to agreeing to a two-fight deal in 2021, but an arbitration ruling forced Fury to face Deontay Wilder. Subsequent bouts for both fighters, including Joshua's losses to Oleksandr Usyk, further delayed the prospect of their meeting. Negotiations were reignited in late 2022 but again failed to materialize until Alalshikh's intervention facilitated the current agreement.
