Hulu has officially renewed the hit series ‘Furious’ for a second season, less than a week after the Season 1 finale aired. The announcement comes as the show, which premiered in late July, has garnered attention for its performances and storyline.

While a specific release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, creators and cast members have indicated potential timelines. Creator Liz Meriwether suggested the earliest fans might see new episodes is summer 2027, with a latest possible release in summer 2028. The series stars Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew, and its first season concluded by revealing that Catherine, played by Petticrew, was responsible for the murder of Isabel.

Details regarding the full cast for the upcoming season remain uncertain. It is anticipated that core cast members, including Rossum and Scoot McNairy, will return. However, the future of Petticrew’s character is unclear, as her storyline seemingly concluded in the first season. The fate of Marshall, portrayed by Jake Lacy, who was left in a wheelchair after being shot in the Season 1 finale, is also a question mark that Season 2 may address.

Meriwether has described Season 2 as potentially focusing on another "big, complicated case," similar to the themes of Season 1. She aims to keep audiences engaged and on edge, ensuring they never become too comfortable with the characters' mindsets. "The goal with the show, just to never let the audience get too comfortable in a certain frame of mind about a character," Meriwether stated. "So the ending — sometimes you got to just like go where it takes you and this felt like that feeling. It was like, ‘Okay we’re gonna take this all the way to the edge of what this character can be and do.’"

Emmy Rossum commented on the thematic development of the characters, particularly Alice and Catherine. She noted that both characters have been underestimated and have felt powerless. Rossum highlighted how Catherine's act of killing as an assertion of power could influence Alice's perspective in future storylines. "I think Alice and Catherine are people who have been underestimated and are both feeling somewhat powerless, even though they’re on these missions for justice and vengeance," Rossum said. "And when Catherine later on says that killing someone is power, it’s taking power back, I think that that changes something in the way that Alice thinks about what Catherine is doing."

‘Furious’ Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Hulu. Subscription options include a basic plan with ads for $11.99 per month or an ad-free version for $18.99 per month. Bundles with Disney+ are also available, starting at $12.99 per month for an ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu plan.
