Robert Bush, the owner of Legacy funeral directors, is facing sentencing for a series of offenses that include denying proper burials to families and exploiting vulnerable individuals during their most difficult times. Many former customers described Bush as presenting himself as a caring undertaker, a facade noted by Hull West and Haltemprice MP Emma Hardy.

"He tried to act like he cared, like he was their friend," Hardy said, recalling her support for affected families. She added that Bush had "exploited the most vulnerable people" when they were at their lowest ebb.

In June 2024, after Bush's actions were exposed, the family of Peter Moody held a second funeral for him, six months after the first. Moody's daughter recounted how Bush had "rushed us out" of the initial service, leaving the family "unable to grieve together." She stated, "As soon as the curtains were closed on my dad, he wanted us out."

Bush previously worked for several other funeral directors and oversaw more than 2,000 funerals during his career. He has shown no remorse for his actions, according to a victim's statement.
