Police responding to a funeral home in Hull discovered what they described as a "horror scene," encountering messy side rooms strewn with rubbish during an investigation into the handling of remains and financial matters. The director of Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, Robert Bush, is reportedly under scrutiny for his business practices.
During interviews with detectives, Bush attempted to frame his actions as administrative oversights, citing poor handwriting and a lack of accounting proficiency as reasons for discrepancies. He also voiced his discontent with the police investigation, calling it "vindictive" while asserting his compliance. Later statements, read by his solicitor, maintained that he never prevented burials and that arrangements were made to meet funeral needs, even though he acknowledged not being licensed for funeral plans.
When questioned about the whereabouts of money received from funeral plans, Bush reportedly responded with "no comment." Authorities discovered dozens of see-through police evidence bags containing ashes, lined up in rows. The scene prompted a significant police presence outside the funeral home.
