A man with an active felony warrant attempted to evade Los Angeles police by fleeing into the ocean on Thursday morning, ultimately being apprehended after an hour-long pursuit in the water. The incident began around 7:20 a.m. when officers attempted to arrest the suspect near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Marina Drive in the Pacific Palisades.

Instead of surrendering, the man fled on foot toward Will Rogers State Beach, outrunning his pursuers before jumping into the ocean fully clothed. Video captured the suspect treading water hundreds of yards offshore as two boats and two first responders on paddleboards approached him. One responder was seen speaking with the man as he swam.

After exhausting himself, a third rescuer swam to the suspect. He was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m., approximately two hours after the chase began, and was transported to a waiting sheriff's boat. A police spokesman confirmed that the man was taken into custody without further struggle and that no injuries were reported. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is holding the suspect as an investigation into the incident continues.
